Really...this is news?

The oil spill in the Gulf is now the biggest in U.S. History.
Tanning Beds linked to skin cancer.
Someone won American Idol last night.
Obama needs some time off with his family around Memorial Day instead of going to Arlington Cemetery to talk to headstones and the media.

Please...there's so much more we could be doing with our media than THIS stuff. We already KNEW this oil spill was huge. If I cared who won American Idol, I would shoot myself, but I'd probably would have WATCHED IT!

You know, where are the report on the 4 missing Korean subs? Where's the public outcry over the fact that Money Matters on NPR pretty much put together all the pieces and said "This company profited billions when the market crashed and almost singlehandedly caused the whole collapse"?

Oh, I do know now that if you spray an elephant with a fire hose, it coaxes him into the water. But I had to do my own digging to find much of anything talking about the passing of Fritz Sennheiser, one of the modern fathers of acoustical engineering (Headphones, Microphones, etc).

Maybe if we made pop culture what we taught kids in school, their idea of rebellion would be to care about the bigger things. Maybe if we weren't the pawn of the media, we could find ways to think for ourselves. I say this on a blog owned by Google, too.

There is no escape.
